“The real estate community suffered some serious setbacks in recent years. The financial crisis of 2008 dealt a powerful blow to the fortunes of many realtors, who had previously existed in a world which seemed to bring ever greater profits with each passing month. Home prices were rising at such a rate that some homeowners were dipping into their equity as if their homes were bank accounts. The sudden, precipitous losses that began five years ago were followed by a slow, grinding descent to a bottom that may not have even been reached yet. The pressures of this decline and the accompanying stress have resulted in many nervous breakdowns and suicides among struggling realtors.
In order to combat the stress factors that are hurting so many people in the real estate community, it is necessary to identify them first. Only then can people determine how to avoid things that cause them too much anxiety. They can also avoid the tragedies that have struck realtors over the past three years.
- Headaches. Frequent headaches and tight or constantly sore muscles may be a sign that the stress in your life is spreading from your mind to your body.
- Frequent Irritation. If you seem to be distressed or angered by everything, then you may be letting your concerns about the housing market affect your mental health.
- Concentration problems. If you cannot focus on things the way that you used to, or if you seem to lose track of what you are thinking or talking about, then anxiety may be interrupting you normal thought processes.
- Insomnia. This sleep disorder is often related to stress and cured when the stress is alleviated somehow.
- Drug abuse
- High blood pressure
- Depression
Identifying stress factors is just the first step. If you find that various signs of high stress as listed above are affecting you, then you must find a way to limit their frequency in your life.Isolate the things that cause these stress factors to appear in your life or seem to trigger their onset.
Determine which of these things can be eliminated from your life. Maybe you do not need to watch a certain news show or talk to a certain person who will only bring you down.If you cannot avoid the people or things which trigger your stress, find ways to limit their appearance in your daily life.Limit the amount of time that you spend working and allow yourself some down time.”
